The Whale

Samuel D. Hunter’s The Whale is a powerful drama about Charlie, a reclusive and morbidly obese English teacher trapped in his final days in a small Idaho apartment, desperately trying to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter. The people who visit him – his only friend, a hopeful missionary, and his bitter daughter – lead him to confront the choices that led him to his current state. The play is an intimate and heartbreaking exploration of redemption, faith, and the human need for connection.
