Welcome to open auditions for The Gentleman’s Relish, a full-length play written and directd by Matthew Paines.
The main auditions will be held at the NoName Theatre Helsinki on Saturday 7 November at 13:00-15:00. Please note that you must register in advance in order to participate.
See below if you are unable to attend the main auditions, but still wish to be considered.
THE PLAY
In a world of cigars, whispered confidences and carefully staged scandals, Honoria and Petronella have perfected the art of feeling delightfully rebellious – while their husbands, Edward and George, quietly congratulate themselves for letting them. Then a mysterious stranger appears at the ladies’ pond, and the household’s elegant little game begins to change. As Oleandra transforms into something else and sets out to unsettle the gentlemen’s club, every character must confront the roles they’ve mistaken for freedom, love and control.
The Gentleman’s Relish is a witty, theatrical melodrama of shifting identities, marital manoeuvres and political satire, where the rules keep changing – and no one gets the last word without a fight.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will start asap after casting and will be set on the basis of theatre availability and overall participant availability (within reason).
PAYMENTS
Please note the Finn-Brit Players is an amateur theatre company and this is not paid work but an opportunity for people to practice their hobby. If chosen, you will have to be a member to participate in the production. Annual FBP membership (February 2026–February 2027) is 50€ standard and 25€ concessions.

3) After registering, you will receive an email with more information about the audition schedule and any preparatory material.
